Denver-based Interior Designer and blogger, Katy Byrne of Designs by Katy is back with more design advice and styling tips. If you haven't read her last guest blog post on how to style kitchen marble tile, you should definitely go and check it out. This time around, she's explaining her picks for designing spaces with Kelly Wearstler's three new tile collections for ANN SACKS. Take it away, Katy!
Powder Bath: Exploring New Horizons with Tableau
When I design, I always like to start with a statement piece. What better place to go look than the Kelly Wearstler collections for Ann Sacks? Small spaces are big opportunities, and I always tend to go bold with a powder bath. The Horizon 2 in New Lagoon was a natural choice for this bathroom. From there, I added wainscoting for a structured look and complimented it with the Calacatta Borghini flooring. Add the perfect Kohler pedestal sink and some Barbara Barry sconces and you have a winning bathroom. It's the perfect blend of structured classic design with a little splash of trend.
Tub: Bathtime with Breakwater
The Maven tile line may be my favorite addition to the Kelly Wearstler collection for Ann Sacks. It's the perfect tile for a focal wall. Why not take an already dramatic free standing tub and combine it with a stunning tile?
The Maven deserves an entire wall. Combine it with the Sunstruck tub from Kohler, the Bordeaux Gris Field Tile on the floor, a fantastic chandelier and even an art piece, your bathroom has gone from simple to stunning.
Entry Area: Setting the tone with Liaison
The entry is a vital part to setting the tone of your home. It's the main opening statement. For me, the Mullholland marble mosaic from Kelly Wearstler was the perfect choice for an entry flooring. It's a bold pattern with classic lines. Somehow her bold patterns always feel timeless.
From there I would paint the interior trim black (one of my favorite design tricks). You then have the perfect palate for a pretty entry. Enter a stunning blue leather chair, lovely chandelier, a table with fresh flowers and you are ready to make a statement.
